Report from Patterson Park Audubon Center
Patterson Park Audubon Center just wrapped up another successful school year, working with six Patterson Park area elementary schools, including, Highlandtown #215, Patterson Park Public Charter School, Hampstead Hill Academy, Commodore John Rogers, Wolfe Street Academy and St. Casimir.  (more...) Educators taught 42 school classes grades K-third twice in the park, once in the fall and again in the spring, and taught seven pre-Kindergarten classes monthly during the school year. Program topics ranged from birds to bugs to fish to trees, and often included a craft, story, hands-on activity and lots of learning and fun. 

Semester-long after-school programs, Winging it in Baltimore and Chesapeake Bay Adventures were popular at two Patterson Park elementary schools.  Each student enrolled in a program received over 24 hours of outdoor programming.  Public Programs  including Tiny Tot Safaris, Ladies Nights, Bird Walks, and volunteer days were a hit over the last year, with many of the 30 + programs filling to capacity.

Patterson Park is offering one week of summer camp From August 3-7th called, Mean Green, and Growing for rising Kindergarten through second graders at a very reasonable price   There is still space available- please visit http://www.audubonmddc.org/centers_PPAC_mean-green.html to register.

Patterson partners in 2008-2009 include: The generous neighbors of Patterson Park, Friends of Patterson Park, Baltimore City Department of Recreation and Parks, Herring Run Watershed Association, Banner Neighborhoods, Southeast Anchor Library, Chesapeake Audubon Society.

Support from area foundations included The Campbell Foundation, Baltimore Community Foundation, Abell Foundation, Lockhart Vaughan Foundation, Clayton Baker Trust, William G Baker Memorial Trust, Lois & Philip Macht Family Fund, Chesapeake Bay Trust and Together Green.

Program support was also provided by area businesses including Saul Ewing, Whiting Turner, Venable, Miles & Stockbridge, T. Rowe Price & Associates, PNC Bank, Wachovia, Eastern Savings Bank and AT & T.
