Youth Volunteer Day: A TogetherGreen Event
Saturday, April 18, 9 AM- 11 PM
Join Audubon and the Friends of Patterson Park for a day of stewardship and greening of the park, followed by a fun craft using recycled materials. Call the FOPP to register @ 410-276-3676.

Earth Day Workday: A TogetherGreen Event
Sunday, April 19, 10AM-3PM
Celebrate Earth by hiking, biking, kayaking, rowing, or driving to Pickering Creek in Easton, MD for our annual Earth Day Workday!  We will be undertaking a number of projects to enhance bird, wildlife, and people habitat and ensuring that our visitors-both feathered and flesh-make the most of our site during the spring and summer.  Projects will include native plantings, invasive plant removal, and more. We'll also provide a fresh, tasty, and locally grown lunch to all of our volunteers, along with a few other goodies! Call 410-822-4903 to register or for more information.

Invasives Eradication Workdays: A TogetherGreen
Event
Saturday, May 9, 10 AM-12 PM

Meet at Pickering Creek's Welcome Center parking area. We'll be tackling English ivy, periwinkle, Japanese honeysuckle, and emerging mile-a-minute before the temperatures and the grass gets too high.  We'll also be utilizing GPS to map these invasive plants and others in buffer strips and in meadows. We will provide work gloves, tools, and insect repellent. Call 410-822-4903 to register.

Paddling the Pickering
Saturday, April 18, 10 AM-12 PM
Come out and enjoy spring while paddling on Pickering Creek!  The whole family can enjoy the wildlife and fresh leaves that flourish in the Chesapeake Bay this time of year.  Call 410-822-4903 to register. Fee.

Farm Field Walk
Tuesday April 21, 2009, 9:00 AM
Join us as we stretch our legs across the Pickering Creek Farm Fields.  We will take a jaunt to corners of the property that usually don't get visited on this 2-4 mile walk.  The terrain is flat, but can be uneven and wet in spots, so hiking boots are recommended.  We will keep our eyes open overhead for soaring Bald Eagles, Wood Ducks and arriving Osprey and migrants. Earth Day Community Picnic in the Park
Wednesday, April 22nd @ 7pm at the Boat Lake in Patterson Park in Baltimore, MD. Pack a picnic, bring your blanket and meet friends by the Boat Lake to celebrate our wonderful earth. Bring instruments and voices to add to the celebration. FREE!

Assateague Island IBA and the Maryland Coastal Bays IBA Dedication Event

Audubon Maryland-DC will recognize these Important Bird Areas and the contribution that their land managers have made to bird conservation at a special dedication ceremony to be held during the Ocean City Tally Rally during the Delmarva Birding Weekend at the Angler Restaurant at 312 Talbot Street- Bay side, Ocean City, MD

Crossing the Line Forest Walk
Saturday April 25, 2009, 9:00-10:30AM
Join us as we venture beyond the property line of Pickering Creek Audubon Center to the north to explore the 30 acres of mature woods of our neighbor.  This guided walk should yield great opportunities for woodpeckers and thrush and hopefully some nice mature trees and emerging woodland ephemeral plants.
