A Year-round Youth Conservation Leadership Club: Enjoy conservation experiences and share them with others. Students will adventure outdoors with new friends, meet conservation professionals, take conservation action, learn natural history, and spread their enthusiasm to kids at summer camp by taking leadership roles.  For students entering 8th-12th grade.
Who? Students in grades 8-12

What? A Year-round Youth Conservation Leadership Club: Enjoying conservation experiences and sharing them with others. Students will complete volunteer projects, meet conservation professionals, learn natural history, and spread their enthusiasm to kids at summer camp by taking leadership roles. 

Where? Pickering Creek Audubon Center and trips to other Conservation centers.

Why? Learn what kind of conservation work is going on in your community.  Learn about wildlife through hands-on fun adventures.  Spend more time outdoors with friends.  Earn hours of volunteer service to put on your resume.  Get insight into conservation careers.  Gain confidence speaking to groups and leading children.

March

10th: Blackwater National Refuge Eagle Day Field Trip (10AM – 4PM): Travel down to BNWR and discover the ecological significance and importance of Bald Eagles  to the Eastern Shore.  **If you plan on attending this event you must notify Ben two weeks prior to the trip**

14th: Monthly Meeting (6.30PM – 8PM): Come join us for a night of fun and learning. We will be working on the skill set: Working Together.

22nd: Meet the Creatures (3.45PM – 5PM): Meet the Creatures at Talbot County Free Library in Easton. Talk to passers-by about reptiles and amphibians of Maryland. Practice your presenting skills. Wear a Pickering Creek shirt if you have one. **Only four spaces available, you must sign-up with Ben a week prior to the event**

April

11th: Monthly Meeting(6.30PM – 8PM):  Come join us for a night of fun and learning. We will be working on the skill set: Group Leadership

14th: Jug Bay Field Trip (9AM – 5PM): Join us as we discover Jug Bay. We will be participating in vernal pool research as well as talking with biologist about the ecological functions of vernal pools as well as discover the unique organisms that call these pools home. **If you plan on attending this event you must notify Ben two weeks prior to the trip**

21st: Earth Day Workday (10AM – 3PM): Bring your families together as we celebrate the Earth by helping improve the different habitats around Pickering Creek. Earn volunteer hours while helping the environment.

26th: Meet The Creatures: Meet the Creatures at Talbot County Free Library in Easton. Talk to passers-by about reptiles and amphibians of Maryland. Practice your presenting skills. Wear a Pickering Creek shirt if you have one. **Only four spaces available, you must sign-up with Ben a week prior to the event**

May

5th: Canoe Trip (10AM-2PM): Come practice your canoe skills. We will be traveling off-site to work on canoe rescues and paddling techniques.

9th: Monthly Meeting (6.30PM-8PM): Come join us for a night of fun and learning. We will focus on Horse Shoe Crabs and will have a guest present the background and history of HSCs. We will be working on the skill set: Game & Activity Leadership

19th & 20th: DuPont Nature Center (OVERNIGHT 9AM-10AM): Join us as we travel to Delaware to attend the HSC festival as well as camp out overnight at Cape Henlopen State Park to observe the night spawning of HSC. **If you plan on attending this event you must notify Ben two weeks prior to the trip**

31st: Meet The Creatures (3.45PM – 5PM): Meet the Creatures at Talbot County Free Library in Easton. Talk to passers-by about reptiles and amphibians of Maryland. Practice your presenting skills. June

2nd: Horn Point Laboratories Field Trip (9AM – 2PM): Join us on a walking tour of the Horn Point laboratories. We will meet with marine scientist and explore the facilities and talk with professionals about their projects. **If you plan on attending this event you must notify Ben two weeks prior to the trip**

20, 21 and 22nd: EcoCamp Training (9AM – 4PM): Join us for three days of teambuilding and camp training. Come practice the activities that you will be leading during camp. Meet the new summer staff, as well as go over emergency procedures, daily schedules, and effective camp counseling. **Training is mandatory. If you do not attend all three sessions you cannot act as a camp counselor at EcoCamp this year**
