Family Programs

Gilbert Byron Day
Saturday, July 12, 7:00 PM
Happy birthday, Mr. Byron!  Share your memories of Gilbert Byron or listen to others’ reminiscences of the “Voice of the Chesapeake.”  Learn about the status of the house restoration (and beyond) and how you can help with the project! We’ll have cake, birthday goodies, and in keeping with the original landscaping, an oak tree to plant! This event is co-sponsored by the Gilbert Byron Society.

Adult Programs
Pickering Bird Walk
The shorebirds that nested in the Arctic are starting to make their way back to their wintering grounds visiting the impoundments at Pickering along the way. We’ll also visit the beautiful gardens and stroll the wooded grounds. To register, e-mail Marian at ChesAudubonInfo@aol.com or call 410-852-9913. This program is being offered by the Chesapeake Audubon Society.

Tiny Tot Safari Programs
Experience nature through hands-on activities, hikes, crafts, and much more!  Tiny Tot programs are for children ages 3-5 years and accompanying adult.  General admission is $5 per child and free to Audubon members. P lease call Pickering Creek at (410) 822-4903 to register.

Ladybug, Ladybug

Ladybugs are great friends of the garden. Learn how they get rid of bad bugs and ways we can make the garden their home.
 
Happy Hummingbirds

Learn about one of the smallest and fastest birds around. Discover what they like to eat, where they live and what makes them so fast.

Plant Medicine
Wednesday, August 6th

Plants and flowers can make us feel better. We will mix and make recipes using plants for foods that are yummy and will help our tummies!

Web of Life
Wednesday, August 27th

1:30-2:30 PM
Small things, tall things.  Fuzzy things, scaly things.  Plants and animals.  Everything in nature is connected, join us we discover the web of life!
